Duhesa Gallery Exhibit
The Lory Student Center is the proud home to Duhesa Gallery. This on-campus gallery exclusively displays contemporary Native American art.
Duhesa is a Hopi word meaning “one who appreciates beauty”.
About the Present Exhibit
Currently, the Duhesa Gallery is hosting the exhibit, Cannupa Hanska: Reliquary. The artist, Cannupa Hanska Luger, embraces the idea of a harmony between creation and destruction, as one defines the other.
He explains: “A block of clay is destroyed to create a sculpture.”
Hanksa’s work contains ceramic skull forms and string composed into patterns in within the display cases on the 300-level of the Lory Student Center. People can enjoy this creative exhibit until June 24, 2016.
