2016 Diversity Symposium

The annual Diversity Symposium will be held throughout rooms in the LSC September 19-22. The building is excited to welcome a variety of speakers this year.

The 2016 keynote speaker is Latino USA’s Maria Hinojosa. Hinojosa is an award winning news anchor and reporter who works to uncover the hidden stories in America. She created Futuro Media Group, an independent nonprofit organization that explores the diversity of the American experience, in 2010.

Her almost 30-year history of being an award-winning journalist sets her apart from others in the field. She has reported for PBS, CBS, WNBC, CNN, NPR, Frontline, and CBS Radio and anchoring the Emmy Award winning talk show Maria Hinojosa: One-on-One. She has also authored two books. Keynote will be Tuesday September 20 at 6 p.m. in the LSC Theatre.

Other speakers include Jacqueline Patterson, Director of the NAACP Environmental and Climate Justice Program, and Bryan Stevenson, Author of “Just Mercy”.
