The Annual LSC Student Employee Graduation Celebration

March 8, 2018

Congratulations 2018 LSC Graduates!

Every year the Lory Student Center celebrates the graduating student employees from the spring, summer, and fall sessions. This year’s event took place March 4 in the LSC Theatre and was expanded to include all student employees from the numerous offices and businesses within the LSC community.

We wanted the event to be all inclusive of the Student Center. Before, we were only celebrating some graduates but not all the graduates of the SDPS offices and our partners. This year we realized we need to expand the event to include every student that is a part of the LSC community,” said Robert Peters, Business Services Director. Peters gave the address at the event in place of Executive Director of the LSC, Mike Ellis, who is not scheduled to return until May from a Semester at Sea.

The LSC graduation celebration is intended to help student staff members feel connected to the LSC even after they graduate. The importance and meaning of the event was not lost on the students being celebrated.

“It shows us we are valued and that they appreciate our work. It commemorates our time here as a whole, and makes us excited to graduate! I appreciate the effort they went through to do this, because the LSC didn’t have to put this celebration on,” said senior Julia Buckley, who works at Lory Student Center Marketing. “Things like this make us students feel important and that we actually contributed while we were here. That’s one of the main messages.”

One graduating student employee from the Bagel Place 2, Alexa Hanenberg, took a moment to give advice to some of the other students. “Its definitely fun working in the LSC because it’s great working with other students. If you get the opportunity, you should definitely take it. You get to work here with people your age and get adapted to the working environment. It also looks great on your resume, holding a job down and going to school full time,” Hanenberg said.

As the spring semester comes to an end, more graduation events will occur and more students and community members will start to prepare for the next chapter in their lives. Colorado State and the LSC are happy to have contributed in those journeys and are here to serve Rams as they become alumni. Congratulations Class of 2018, and remember: Once a Ram, always a Ram.
