From paint to sign installation to ensuring the building is at the tip-top of cleanliness each day, Lory Student Center Operations is the team within the team that ensures our building looks great and stays safe. Operations is one of those things that rarely cross our minds, but are essential to our everyday experiences – especially here in the Lory Student Center. Recycling to care for our environment, cleaning the food venue halls, arranging furniture, and ensuring loose tiles we walk on are steady are but a few of the responsibilities handled daily by the Lory Student Center operations staff that make our time in the building a top-notch experience. LSC Operations Job Descriptions
Seeking a self-motivated professional employee with multi-tasking skills , that can work independently , and communicates changes in work schedules .
Pay rate: $15.20-$15.50 (depending on experience)
Hours per week: May work up to 30 hours/week depending on need and ability.
Specific hours:
- Minimum shift length: 2 hours per shift.
- Schedule: Work hours would be between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Job Duties
- Attends departmental training opportunities.
- Have a working knowledge of CSU’s composting and recycling practices.
- General custodial duties.
- Observing waste receptacles, educating and assisting customers in proper usage, and assisting the Environmental Services Leads in charge of the area with documenting needs, successes, and challenges of customer-based composting and recycling.
- Removal of waste, recycling, and compost from the Lory Student Center.
- Must demonstrate effective and appropriate customer interactions and service.
- Perform cleaning while maintaining a safe work and learning environment in the LSC.
- Greet guests and other users assisting as needed
- Conduct special projects efficiently and completely as directed
- Once proficient in performing tasks and utilizing equipment, the position may train other employees

Preferred Qualifications
- Compost experience which includes formal education or instruction.
- 3 months custodial/janitorial experience
- Consistent and reliable schedule availability.

- Blood Borne Pathogens, LSC orientation, and departmental orientation are required before a schedule can be established.

Job duties
This position may include but isn’t limited to:
- Sand, scrape or mud/patch old surfaces to prepare for painting.
- Paint, stain or seal surfaces to finish or renew.
- Clean painting tools after completing the work.
- Organize and restock inventory of paint supplies.
- Protect freshly painted areas by placing “Wet Paint” signs.
- Make sure events and building users are not inconvenienced due to painting project
Preferred Qualifications
- Must be familiar with the different types of paint sheen and painting methods as well as use of brush and rollers.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and remain in demanding physical positions for long stretches of time.
- Ability to maintain safe working conditions.
