December 1st, 2025 – February 2nd, 2026
Throughout the 20th century, the boundaries between photojournalism, documentary photography, snapshots, and fine art grew increasingly porous. Images captured by photojournalists began to be admired for their formal qualities and composition; documentary photographs found their way onto museum walls, and casual shots of friends were studied for their social significance. This exhibition explores the intersection of photography and contemporary lived experience through images that center people captured in moments of action, contemplation, and connection. Whether depicting a moment of athletic tension, a concert, or everyday life on the street, this show embraces a vision of fine art photography that holds the consequential and the ordinary in equal regard. Rather than privileging certain political or social contexts, we look for the emotion and perspective each photograph captures. Featuring the photographs by photographers Carlynn Claypool, Carmen Guerrero, Lucy Mead, Lorien Osterfelt, Scott Reif, Hyab Tekeste
The exhibition will be open until February 2nd, 2026, so be sure to check it out! The Sideshow is located on level 200 of the LSC, across from the Curfman Gallery
