The Hidden Process brings an unseen ritual to light in a space that is typically filled with finished artworks. Rather than focusing on completed works, this exhibition highlights the sketches, drafts, test prints, mistakes, and material studies that occurred during an artist’s process of making. These elements act as crucial evidence of the evolution of a final piece of art, yet often go unseen by eyes other than the artist’s.

No matter the artistic medium, process is an integral part of an artist’s making. During the selection process for this show, we were particularly interested in highlighting material that provides evidence of moments of experimentation, revision, and discovery that shape an artist’s individual practice. The Hidden Process offers a raw look into the ritual of making, inviting viewers to consider the unseen labor that informs an artist’s work.
