Power outage to impact services in Lory Student Center over Winter Break

The Lory Student Center will be undergoing major electrical upgrades
that will impact access to services over Winter Break.

LSC North Entrance, Bookstore, and Transit Center to have limited access during construction

Access to the North End/Transit Center and CSU Bookstore will remain open during most of the upgrades, which were originally planned as part of recent North End renovation work at the LSC.

North entrance doors near the Transit Center will be available, and northeast doors on Level 200 (across from the Engineering Building) will provide access to the bookstore, bathrooms and lounges on Levels 100 and 200. Elevator service is available from the North Entrance lobby. The south and Plaza entrances will be closed to the public beginning Sunday, Dec. 17. The entire building will be closed Sunday, Dec. 24 through Sunday, Jan. 7.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Many offices will be operating remotely weekdays over Winter Break. Please check this site or individual LSC office websites for more information. The Campus Information desk, (970) 491-6444, will operate virtually 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday but will be closed on weekends and University holidays. This will include the web-chat box.

Upgrades will take place in three different phases over Winter Break; however, the north end of the building will open according to the following schedule:

PHASE 1: Because of a building-wide power outage on Sunday, Dec. 17, the building will be closed to students, staff, and visitors. The following week, the CSU Bookstore will be open noon to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, with access through North End Transit Center entrances and elevator service to Levels 200 and 300. Bathrooms and nearby lounges on Levels 100 and 200 will also be open during this time. On Tuesday, Dec. 19, through Friday, Dec. 22, the Bookstore will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Hours will change slightly on Saturday, Dec. 23, with doors opening for shopping ant textbook pickup at 10 a.m. and closing that evening at 5.

PHASE 2: The LSC, including the Transit Center, will be closed Sunday, Dec. 24, through Sunday, Jan. 7, in observance of university holidays (Dec. 25-27 and Jan. 1) and to facilitate continued work on electrical upgrades. The CSU Bookstore will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day) with access to the CSU Bookstore, nearby lounges, the elevator, and bathrooms. The LSC opens at 7 a.m. Jan. 15.

PHASE 3: The LSC aims to welcome the public back into the entire building from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 12 and 13. LSC building hours on Sunday, Jan. 14, will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day). With the start of Spring Semester on Tuesday, Jan. 16, regular building hours will resume: 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.

NOTE: Access to the south end of the LSC will be strictly prohibited given safety concerns, including the suspension of lighting and fire suppression systems.

  • Jan. 8-12: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • Jan. 13, Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Jan. 14, Sunday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Jan. 15, Monday: (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day) 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Jan. 16-18: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday
  • Jan. 19, Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Jan. 20, Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Executive Director’s Office will be available remotely 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday (except for the designated University closures). University Holidays include:

  • Monday, Dec. 25
  • Tuesday, Dec. 26
  • Wednesday, Dec. 27
  • Monday, Jan. 1
  • Monday, Jan. 15

All dining and coffee venues located within the LSC will be closed during the Winter Break outage closure, as will Morgan’s Grind at Morgan Library, the Bean Counter at Rockwell West, and Sweet Temptations at the Behavioral Science Building.

Lake Street Market is closed Dec. 22 through Jan. 1, but will reopen at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2. Hours of operation  on weekdays Jan. 2 -12 are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lake Street Market will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 13 and 14, and will be closed on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 15. Lake Street Market is located at the corner of Lake Street and Center Avenue on the south side of campus. For more information, call (970) 491-1937.

The RamCard Office will temporarily relocate during the LSC Winter Break outage. The office will set up a streamlined operation at Durrell Center, 950 W. Plum St., and provide all standard services to campus from Durrell Meeting Room 2. RamCard Office service hours (when the University is open) will remain the same during this time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. RamCard operations will resume regular operations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in LSC-271 on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024. Reach out at ramcard@colostate.edu or call 970/491-2344 for more information.

RAMtech will set up temporary operations in the Glover Building, 451 Isotope Drive, just southeast of the Lory Student Center. RAMtech will be open in Glover E100, and the Southwest entrance door, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday (when the University is open). RAMtech will resume regular operations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in LSC-244 on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024. RamTech can be reached at ramtech@colostate.edu, or by phone at (970) 491-7625.

The Food Pantry, located on campus at the General Services Building (1251 Mason St.) will be open over Winter Break according to the following schedule. Visitors are encouraged to bring their CSU ID card and bags.

• Wednesday, Dec. 20 – 3 to 6 p.m.
